The present state of unemployment in the United States is all too well known. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics tells us that the unemployment rate is 10 % in November 2009; the job losses in the previous 3 months average 135,000; the number of unemployed persons was 15.4 million and the number of long term unemployed ( those unemployed for 27 weeks or more) rose by 293,000 to 5.9 million. But life is not about stats. alone!
