The New York Times is one of the most respected newspapers and a column in it that I follow very closely is called the “Corner Office”. In this, Adam Bryant speaks every Sunday with a business leader on aspects of leadership and management. I am delighted to find a recent issue features, Vineet Nayar, XLRI batch of ’85, Chief Executive Officer of HCL Technologies.
Vineet has had his share of controversies, one among them being a comment in the past which in which he supposedly said most American tech. graduates are unemployable.
From all accounts he has been a successful mentor and I hear good words for him from the IT and business communities. And no, I am not saying this merely because we went to the same business school- XLRI at Jamshedpur. The article bears out that the power of transparency and communication- two strong pillars in building a committed workforce.
