Jeff Immelt had the tough task of filling in the shoes of Jack Welch when he was chosen to be his successor and the ninth Chairman & CEO of GE.
Here are a few points made by Jeff Immelt in a very interesting and informative interview published recently. Jeff is interviewed by Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, in his capacity as the Guest Editor of the Economic Times :-
- He has increased sales in GE to over $ 165 billion.
- More than 50 % of GE revenues come from outside the US
- He spends 30 % of his time on people, 30 % on growth, 30 % on operations and 10 % on public things like investor meetings
- He feels every leader must make time to coach people
I would urge you to read the interview here. Well worth the time you would invest.
