I am sure in our time all of us have come across managers we have judged as being incompetent. I was interested to read a list put together by Margaret Heffernan writing about 10 Signs of Incompetent Managers in Fast Company.
Which made me think, what would my list be like? To my mind, incompetent managers have the following characteristics:
- They are unworthy of trust
- They have stopped learning
- They are poor trainers and coaches

very interesting post. on #4 – processes are important. Any org has to strike a right balance on how processes are defined, implemented and being used.

Thanks, Su, for your comment. Apart from what you said, I feel we should periodically review processes to make sure that they are relevant,serve the purpose they are supposed to and add value.
On #5 I’d say, a good manager can be recognized by his sense of humour. Especially during crunch time, it takes a manager who can lighten the pressure to get the best from his employees. Interesting post.
Absolutely agree with you, Vidooshak. Many a time a crisis has been made easier because of the use of appropriate humor.
