An XLRI alumnus we are proud of is K. Pandia Rajan, Founder & Managing Director of Ma Foi.
This is now part of Vedior NV, a 6.85 billion Euro staffing company and the third largest in the world.

Ma Foi says they have placed more than 1,16,370 personnel in 31 countries worldwide, over 693 of these being at the GM and above levels.

They are likely to provide more employment than all the Govenrment employment exchanges in India put together. According to statistics, the 998 employment exchanges in the country place 1.10 lakh employees per annum in various government jobs. Ma Foi, which recruits over 5,000 staffers per month, is all set to cross the 1.20 lakh within the next 12 months, company managing director K Pandia Rajan told Economic Times recently.

The company’s revenues, which were to the tune of Rs 328 crore in calendar year 2006, is poised to cross Rs 450 crore in the current year. Mr Rajan said the company is targeting revenues of Rs 1,000 crore and a presence in 20 countries within the next two years

Leadership Crisis Ahead

A study by IBM’s consulting arm indicates that many organizations see a crisis looming with reference to leadership in the future, reports the Economic Times.

Three-quarters of the people who responded said this was a significant workplace issue.” The study found 88 % of companies in the Asia Pacific region are most concerned with their ability to develop future leaders, followed by Latin America (74 %); Europe, Middle East and Africa, (74 %); Japan (73 %) and North America (69 %).

The survey by IBM’s consulting arm interviewed 400 human resources executives from 40 countries and suggests companies are putting growth strategies at risk if they cannot identify and develop the next generation of leaders.

To my mind, an integral requirement for leadership in the future will be, if it is not already so, a truly global outlook. Cross-geography assignments in varying cultures become essential to develop the very different perspectives needed for global leaders.

I see significant need for organisations to have select executives coached in ways of working in different parts of their business world.

Who Googles What?

Google changed the way we look for information anywhere in the connected world. If you are searching for some information, the chances are high that you would “google” for it.

Here’s some interesting information from Google Inc. Their list of keywords searched most for in different parts of the world include:

  • Keyword ” sex” : Egypt, India, Turkey
  • Keyword “Hitler”: Germany, Mexico, Austria
  • Keyword “love” : Philippines, Australia, United States

The list goes on. They ought to know. After all, who knows better than them what people “google” for?
