"Truth,Love & A Little Malice".
May 29, 2007
The last few weeks gave me an opportunity to catch up with my reading. Completed an autobiography by Khushwant Singh . As one would expect from him, this book has an interesting title:”Truth, Love & A Little Malice”.
I remember him, most of all, from the days he was the editor of the now defunct” Illustrated Weekly of India” which was staple reading for many Indians of my generation. He had a reputation for being a womaniser and a hard drinker. What is not so well known is the vast amount of writing he has done over the years including a history of the Sikhs.
His autobiography takes us through his childhood in British India (he was born in 1915 in pre-Partition Punjab) through the early years of Independence right upto to the India of the 90’s. The post-script was written in 2001 when the book was eventually published.
A good read with many yarns…of the kind one would expect from Khushwant Singh.
Time Flies!!
May 27, 2007
Shocked to find that 1 month has passed since my last post. As they say, time flies.
An attack of viral fever followed by convalescence kept me pretty much away from blogging.
A realization: viral fever isn’t too bad. It’s the period of recovery that is worse. I was surprised to find how tired I got, even when I didn’t do much!
Look forward to getting back to posting.
